Sunflower gallery

Sunflowers are one of the garden’s most glorious plants. Although each appears to consist of just one giant flower, what you see is actually a flower head made up of thousands of tiny florets (small flowers) surrounded by large, flame-like petals. The florets inside the seed head eventually mature into seeds.

Flip through our gallery to take a closer look, discover variations in colour, shape and size – or submit your own images to our Flickr group and be in with a chance to feature in our Turing's Sunflower exhibition. By submitting your photographs, you agree that they can be displayed by the project and our partners involved in the project.
